THE RAKE & RIDDLE

COMBINING MODERN FLAVOURS WITH TRADITIONAL QUALITY

Having obtained the lease for the Berthlwyd/ Sea Garden in November 2016 we wanted to create a new dining experience for the area. We decided that the name for the pub needed to have local influence and so were inspired by the cockle industry. The Rake and Riddle are the traditional cockle gathering tools that have been used for over a century in the village of Penclawdd. Our objective was to combine modern flavours with traditional quality with emphasis on using local produce. We feel that we have developed a great casual dining venue at the Rake and Riddle. 

Renovation work began in early December 2016 where we completed extensive work inside and out, creating a relaxed, welcoming interior and a fantastic outside space, perfect for families. Work is now complete with our sports bar and pizzeria having opened in May 2017 along with a beer garden and children’s play area.

We do recommend booking a table if you wish to dine with us in our Downstairs Restaurant, in our Upstairs Bar & Grill or in our Outside area as we do get extremely busy. We also have a dog friendly space in the upstairs sports bar along with a designated dog area outside.

Our menu reflects traditional pub favourites that we have identified through our teams many years in the industry as well as offering new flavours and an extensive specials board.
